The crews have been putting in extra work to bring their life saving skills up to date.
Over the past two weeks 12 of the crew and 5 of the shore crew have been taking part in a two week long RNLI First Aid course, spending 3 hours in ether the afternoon or evening to complete the course. Perry Simpson, an instructor from the RNLI College, put the crew through their paces with theory and practical sessions.
On Thursday 3rd May they had their final assessment; at the end all 17 were pleased to find out that they had passed, to the high standards set by the RNLI.
One of the crew had to put his updated skills to the test, even before the end of the course, as on the way to work he came across a road traffic accident, giving assistance to the casualty until the Ambulance arrived.
Happisburgh Station has just received a Legacy to fund the crew training at our station, this is appreciated by the crew and it is shown by all the hard work the crew have put in to this First Aid course; we have also sent crew on Crew course, and two on a Tractor Driving course, all at RNLI College in Poole.
This Legacy will help our volunteers to maintain and improve their skills to enable them to carry out their role of saving lives at sea.
